Jody Steiger is a Doctor of Education with an emphasis on the role of the arts in education and social development. She is president of the Asociación AcciónArte para la Educación, and the Costa Rican national correspondent of ICOM CECA (International Council of Museums - Committee for Education and Cultural Action).
Steiger is a lighting designer and theater producer. She was Director of the National Theater of Costa Rica, where she created the Teatro al Mediodía program. She has participated in more than five hundred national and international productions and during her career, she received several awards including the 2017 National Theater Award, the Ancora Award in Teatre from La Nación, and a Creativity and Excellence Grant from the Florida Ice & Farm Company. In 2009, she was named Person of the Year by La Nación in the field of culture.
Steiger is the Artistic Advisor for Teatro Espressivo and a member of the Board of Directors of the Orquestra de las Americas.
